At Daruwana Development Foundation, we are dedicated to creating sustainable change in communities through a holistic approach that addresses the root causes of poverty and environmental degradation. Our work spans multiple focus areas, all aimed at empowering communities, restoring ecosystems, and building a resilient future.
Taking the poor ahead: Leaving poverty behind
We cannot pretend not to see the problem of poverty—it is everywhere. About 800 million people living in poverty.
85% of them live in rural places affected by environmental crisis.
Four out of five people below the international poverty line lived in rural areas.
Half of the poor are children. Women form a majority of these materially poor in most regions and among some age groups. About 70 percent of the global poor bout 15 years plus and have no hope for schooling or only some basic education
Almost half of poor people in Sub-Saharan Africa live in just five countries: Nigeria, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Madagascar
More than 40 percent of the global poor live in economies affected by fragility, conflict and violence, and that number is expected to rise to 67 percent in the next decade. Those economies have 10 percent of the world’s population.
About 132 million of the global poor live in areas with high flood risk.
Many people who had barely escaped extreme poverty could be forced back into it by the convergence of COVID-19, conflict, and climate change.
A Nature Machine. A tree.
Tree planting is a simple, replicable, and scalable approach with proven success. How? “With every living soul a tree planter crusades”. Through our demonstration training program, the TFTF-Approach, farmers plant thousands of trees that protect and bring nutrients back to the soil. Our farmers then grow varieties fruits and vegetables as against mono crop farming. The acquisitions of these skill-sets move small holder farmers to gain increases in income and access to food, within the first year, while improving their environment.
Help these extreme poor people suffering from chronic hunger to achieve food security within 1 year on ward
Help the extreme poor people earning less than $1.25/day to increase their income by at least 10 times over
It is homecoming for tree cover to their degraded landscapes and invigorate dying soils.
Being involved in diversified training program in favor of increasing social and economic self- reliance in an organic scale, we are:
a) Involved in increasing Post-Harvest Value:
b) We catalyze local people into self -reliant groups that grow into cooperatives societies. This helps them in Creating Value Chain and Market Linkages: We show them how to remove middlemen from the distribution chain and provide mentoring for economics of scale that facilitate information flow and business transactions between suppliers and buyers.
The Nature Machine. A tree. It absorbs carbon from the atmosphere and keep it.
1. It’s easy for local farmers to take care of the trees while trees take care of the farmers
2.The Nature Machine form mechanical anchors on the soil structure which thus reduces erosion, degradation, and landslides
3.Trees are beautiful, cool, and freshens. Green vegetation are pleasant sceneries and form safe-place for meditation and pouring away negative energies.
